OUR MISSION

The Hummingbird Project is a 501(c)(3). Our mission is to support communities of color and those of the African diaspora on a transformative path of healing, resilience, and empowerment while addressing the enduring effects of trauma. We recognize the profound impact of historical and intricate traumas, particularly those related to sexual violence, exploitation, sex trafficking, and intersecting systemic hurdles. Our strategy includes delivering culturally sensitive services, fostering community alliances, and assisting individuals in overcoming these challenges through Truth and community support.

HOW YOU CAN HE

BECOME AN ALLY

Untitled design (3).png

Martha Wright, Frances Seward, and Harriet Tubman, collectively known as "The Agitators," epitomize a powerful alliance driven by a shared commitment to eradicating injustice. These three women individually made significant contributions to the fight for justice and equality, but their collective efforts formed a transformative movement that left an indelible mark on American history. In a similar spirit to "The Agitators," The Hummingbird Project seeks to connect with allies and comrades who embody qualities of resilience, courage, and a willingness to challenge societal norms in the relentless pursuit of racial justice and the intersection of sexual exploitation and violence.

Our goal is to realize a future where racial reconciliation is not just an objective but a lived experience. There is a much larger conversation at play when we see disproportionate numbers of sexual violence among communities of color. We believe that there are more of us for racial healing than against it.

We are rooted in the belief that diversity is a strength and that understanding, empathy, and unity can bridge the gaps that have divided people of many colors, creeds, and nationalities due to racial trauma.; Individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds will come together in a spirit of openness and respect. A society where conversations about race are not only welcomed but are approached with a willingness to listen, learn, grow, change, and heal. A world where systemic inequities are dismantled, and opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of race.

Healing must first start with a willingness on all sides. A world where every individual is treated with dignity, where justice prevails, and where the legacy of racial reconciliation becomes a foundation for a harmonious and healed future. Join the fight today!
